On Thursday, April 10, Southern Arkansas University (SAU) held a concert featuring Ty Myers, with an opening act by the band, deFrance, at the Alumni Center on campus. The concert was free and open to the public, with the premises opened at 6 PM for patrons to begin arriving and find spots to watch the performance.

Merchandise and beverages were available for purchase, while outside beverages and bags were prohibited. “I have been to all the concerts SAU has hosted since freshman year, and this has been my favorite one by far!”, an SAU student explained when asked about how they enjoyed the concert.

SAU hosts concerts frequently as a form of entertainment for students and those from the community at large. The performances offer not only entertainment, but also an influx of revenue to Columbia County and the college due to the attendance they draw in. Concert goers at these events range from locals to individuals who have traveled from out of state for these performances.

With Ty Myers being a well-known up-and-coming artist, preparation for the potentially large attendance was made by the university. SAU provided a large, designated area for attendees to enjoy the concert, along with several outdoor lavatories for the guest convenience. Proper security measurements were in place for the protection of the performers and the attendees. With deFrance took center stage at 7 PM, and Ty Myers performed afterward at 8 PM till the end.
